Now I Love Hockey Forever

Originally this was going to just be a tweet thread on twitter but I had too many thoughts and I haven’t posted here in a while so why not a two for one?

Hockey y’all.

Dallas. Stars. Hockey.

Man did I fall hard for it, huh?

It all started when Jamie Benn took batting practice with the Texas Rangers. Because hi, hello, yes I love sports for the sports and the stats and the athletic ability but I have absolutely no shame in admitting a bonus of being a female fan is appreciating how a man looks when we plays said sport.

So naturally, I was very interested in hockey after setting eyes on Jamie Benn. No shame.

(So I when I switched over to squarespace, I could no longer embed tweets so I had to screenshot and make the photo clickable to the tweet.)

However, the last few years I’ve been saying I was going to get into hockey too and it never happened. So this year I made sure to follow the beat writers and keep up (kinda) during pre-season.

I watched game one of the regular season, having basically no idea what I was truly watching because the only research I had done was watch hockey fights on YouTube and going down that rabbit hole of videos. Instantly, I was hooked.  I really didn’t expect to be. I thought I’d watch game one casually and then maybe game two, think about game three. Nope I was full invested after game one.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this season and I truly regret missing out on previous seasons and totally kicking myself for not watching hockey sooner! However, this season was an amazing first season to get hooked on Stars hockey and I think it’s a lot to do with Stars twitter. I feel like I now have a lot of hockey friends and I truly can't wait for next season.

I feel like I had way more thoughts and things to say but my brain is scrambled and I still can't believe the season is actually over. And even though it ended roughly, I absolutely loved and enjoyed the team, the sport, the season, and there were tons of highlight moments. When the Rangers 2016 season ended, I took some time to write a quick blog post and list out the highlights, so I wanted to do that here. But by highlights I mean it's most going to be random stuff that stood out to me and gifs!

-Jamie Benn is the pettiest of the petty and therefore a fav (I say as if he wasn't already!)

-Anton Khudobin is another fav and I really think they just need a Dobby cam next season

-THE MOM'S TRIP IS THE CUTEST! I NEED ALL SPORTS TO DO THAT!

-Super thankful for friends like Dylan who make gifs like

-When hockey isn't "super manly" it's actually very cute:

-Some fights are super intense and wild and then others are very hilarious

-Not Stars related, but I absolutely love the Carolina Hurricanes and their storm surges!

-This video is the greatest video ever:

-Stars 'Open Ice' video series is absolutely the best thing any team in professional sports is doing and as someone who loves behind the scenes of anything, I thoroughly enjoy everything about it.

-BEN FREAKING BISHOP!!!

-Literally I just love this entire team and I want to put almost every moment here!

I know I'm missing a bunch of things that should be here, I'm gonna end it with this:
