Twenty Four

Last year for my birthday post, I wrote 23 facts about me... and that was a struggle so there's no way I could do that again! Since I haven't posted in a while, I figured I'd just ramble a little, maybe look back on this last year because I feel like I had a really good 23rd!

I already talked about some of this in my new years post, but I really felt like year 23 was gonna be a good one. It was probably more of a self-fulfilling prophecy because 23 is my favorite number so I was convinced it was going to be amazing and it really turned out that way!

Not long after my birthday, I got a freelance job with Prosper Press, which was really the first time I was able to get paid to do what I love which was so incredible. To be able to take photos at high school football, baseball, and softball and get paid to take photos and write about sports at any level has obviously been a dream, I mean it's what I'm in school for, but at some level it kind of always feels like it's too good to be true. So getting that first real experience was something I was so grateful that completely just fell into my lap.

I got a story published in a newspaper, a story I was actually super proud of and put a lot of work into.

I got to do so much more photography this year, that I had enough work to be able to make a separate website to showcase my work!

I made it on the Dean's list in both the fall and the spring, which was really shocking because I never do well in the spring.

Got to cover my second season of Rangers baseball for LoneStarBall.com and get paid for it. Y'all it is so validating to get paid to do something you love, that may sound cheesy, it may sound ridiculous, but to me it just meant that what I was doing was good and my hard work was paying off. I don't know about you but I wouldn't pay someone to do a crappy job so I must be doing something right, right? (Also, if that sounded like I'm only doing it for the money,so far in my experience,

journalism is not the most lucrative career :/   yet...?)

Anyway my point is that 23 was a really good year for me career wise, I feel like I got more opportunities to really grow in that area and really become more confident in my work. Here's hoping that 24 shows that by getting a big girl, full-time job after graduation in December! (Hi all DFW sports teams!! ;) )

Oh also super important, as 23 closes, I've discovered a new love.

Hockey.

Yeah, Dallas Stars, I'm here for them!

Also while you're still here... hopefully, I have blog posts planned out so I don't expect another month long break, it's just finding time to write them while I'm writing for school and work as well! Just know that I'm trying!
