Tee Dress Two Ways

One of my biggest problems when it comes to style, is learning to wear an outfit more than one way. I'm a creature of habit, if I find something I like I stick with it. I order the same things from restaurants and rarely try something new, why mess with a good thing? When it comes to an outfit, if I still a shirt or a dress one way, that's pretty much the only way I'll wear it. Because I know it works!

So I "challenged" myself for this post. Which really wasn't too much of a challenge but hey, I tried! My style is obviously casual, that's what I like and I'm a full-time college student so I don't really have a need to wear anything to fancy.

So basically I styled this dress casually and then like a step or two up from casual.

I've been wanting a t-shirt dress for a while but I was very picky about it. I didn't want it too thick, too tight, and I definitely didn't want it to be a swing dress. I wanted more of a shift style, mostly because I swear every time I decide to wear a dress, it gets windy and with this type of dress, I worry less about everything flying!

Normally, I'd get a dress in a petite size because they run long at Old Navy, but reviews said the black ran a little short... not so much. It would've been perfect length in a petite... however, it wouldn't have allowed me to wear this the second way.

So the first way, super casual. This is how I would wear it to class. I've actually worn this exact outfit the last two Saturdays when I've gone to take photos at events. It's cute, casual, easy to move around in. The only thing I add to it, I've been tying a denim jacket around my waist since it's been cooler as the sun goes down.

The second way is like a step up from casual but I still consider it casual. I switched out the tennis shoes for these "lace-up" flats, a cute handbag, put on some lipstick and to give the dress more of a shape, I knotted the bottom of it. Since this dress is a little longer on me (I'm only 5'2") knotting it was the easiest way to bring shape to the dress and change it up.

So this is probably how I'd wear it for a dinner with friends or something that's still casual but I want to look just a little more put together!
